After reports in previous months about the royals tightening their belts, you'd think they would walk-the-talk. Apparently talk is cheap in Prince William's case as he plans on whisking Kate Middleton away to a £40K ice palace in Klosters. While there he will wine and dine Kate at a five star Michelin rated restaurant, snuggling by the roaring fire in their exclusive chalet no doubt oblivious to the rising unemployment rate of his future subjects.
While good deeds and touching speeches may elicit sympathy, I tend to wonder if William and Harry are coasting on their mother's memory. For someone whose mother introduced him to the other side of life, he seems to have forgotten the lessons. The reality that most people do not live in opulent surroundings with expendable servants attending to their every whim. Maybe it's apt that Prince Charles recently named a baby giant tortoise after Prince William.
Right now both seem to be a little slow.

Love your take on this...and have to say that I'm in total agreement:)
Thanks very much Ms. Lucy! Articles reporting that William is going off on expensive vacations, especially right now, just make me mad. I hope these reports are not true.
I hope they aren't either. I can just imagine what Diana's opinion would have bee...
I don't think Diana would have approved. I think she would have encouraged her sons to ask rich friends to foot the bill.
Diana's last vacation with the Al Fayeds was paid for by them. When she went to Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island, her security guard at the time said that her stay was compliments of Sir Richard Branson himself. I think Charles has had some vacations paid for by John Lastis. So it's not like William doesn't have options. Although going on vacation right now, especially to such an exclusive location, would look bad regardless of how much William thinks he deserves it or even who pays for it.
