If being royal is so extraordinary, why do the royals want to be ordinary?
Being royal is clearly not all it is cracked up to be. Gilt here and there. Liveried footmen abound. Church bells ring on your birthday. Red...

Hi Marilyn,
Welcome back and Happy New Years to you. Your report wasn't clear and it was very hard to hear you but I will just answer your question. The royals do have a right to complain about their privacy and lives. The worlds press has somehow made the Windsors into celebrities and they are far from that. As we can see, William & Kate is doing just fine but the press has a way of making these two people lives very difficult and you can tell that they don't like their relationship to be the hot topic. Charles & Diana had to deal with the pressures from the media and in result their marriage crumbled. It was just too many hands in that marriage. They really do have a right to complain. If people just realize that they are human beings just like the rest of us and leave their private lives alone, things will be okay but not perfect.
Hi Claudius,
Happy New Year to you and thanks for the feedback!
I'm not sure that they have a right to complain about their lives, excessively anyways. I think that's just part and parcel of the position that they're in.
I'm not trying to justify abusive behavior from the press, like Diana went through, or say that the royals have to stay in their palaces and never venture out. True the media didn't have a right to put so much pressure on Charles and Diana but there were also things - like Camilla, to factor in as well.
I don't think it's realistic to expect them to have their private lives to remain private. With the celebrity culture we seem to be living in at the moment, it's unrealistic.
They are public figures, notable people - which is the definition of a celebrity. It's a fact, even if people like Paris Hilton have 'corrupted' the definition of it.
For anyone interested, I have re-recorded the January 6th show. Not the same as the original but at least you should be able to hear me now! :)
Thanks again Claudius for letting me know about this. I don't normally listen the shows afterwards so I wouldn't have known otherwise.
